ANATOMY TALK
Join us for The Embodied Vagal System - Diaphragm to Guts

Wednesday, December 3, 2025
7:00-8:00pm
Online (Zoom) - not recorded

We will continue "tracking the wild vagus" as Gil frames it. In our last Anatomy Talk we started in the brain and followed along as the vagus nerve branched and branched some more, sending nervelettes out to the throat, the tongue, around and behind the heart in a surprisingly dense array of nerve fibers and further into the thoracic basket. We will pick up this wild path in the thoracic basket and follow the vagus as it passes through the diaphragm in a sea creature-like expression of nerve tissue at the hiatus. From there we will disappear into the guts with the vagus as our guide. The embodied vagal system is a different animal from the theorized and commodified "vagus nerve". Come check it out!

Note: This event will not be recorded due to ownership rights of Gil Hedley's materials.
