Anatomy Talk: Anatomy of the Vagal System
Explore the vagus nerve in depth with Michael as he weaves anatomy, theory, and clinical insight to clarify the vagal system’s role in healing and how to apply this understanding in real-world practice.
Thursday, October 16, 2025
7:00-8:00pm
Online (Zoom) - not recorded
The vagus nerve, the polyvagal theory, vagal stimulators, clients coming in self diagnosing themselves with the vagus nerve as their main problem and wanting you to fix it... How do you navigate the swirl of information about the vagal system?
Michael will curate lectures and dissections from Gil Hedley and provide participants context to increase our collective understanding.
Let's ground ourselves in the body and look at where and how the vagus goes. Who does it connect to? What if we include the organs and other tissues that fall within the umbrella of the vagal system? I think that helps us navigate complex cases and help orient the folks we treat towards meaningful understanding about how the vagal system may be impacting their health.
This talk ties in nicely with our Living Anatomy Lab special event on Sunday 10/19 where Michael will give a more in-depth lecture on how to understand the vagal system clinically. This will be followed by Michael giving a full treatment to a patient. Followed by a group debrief where folks can ask questions.
Note: This event will not be recorded due to ownership rights of Gil Hedley's materials.
All proceeds from Anatomy Talks, less transaction fees, go directly to the Moving Mountain Institute Black Indigenous People of Color (BIPOC) Tuition Assistance fund.
