"Regional Anatomy" has dominated anatomy study since at least the 1800's. Regional anatomy defines things by structure and region and then gives each thing a name based on its location.
This isn't wrong, but it isn't right either, it's just one way of orienting to what's under the skin.
Another way is to orient by layer and texture. When we look at the body in layers we are also experiencing its different internal textures. These textures lay on top of and around each other and is another way that tissues are in relationship with each other.
When I think of bodywork I am thinking about relationship anatomy - how are structures or tissues in relation with the things that surround it and comprise its environment. In this Anatomy Talk we will look at different examples of tissue layers in relationship with each other and explore what that might mean for our work. This is a major area of exploration for me coming out of my time in the dissection lab with Gil.
Note: This event will not be recorded due to ownership rights of Gil Hedley's materials.
